Having obtained a BSc and LLB at Rhodes University, Nigel began his articles at one of South Africa’s largest firms in 2012. He remained there until 2016. During those 5 years he gained invaluable insight into commercial law and the careful management of customer-supplier relationships. He also focused on intellectual property law and began to position himself as the subject-matter expert on IP matters to be resolved for clients of the firm.

Nigel then left practice, moving in-house to support the legal department of Dell Technologies. He enjoyed becoming a part of providing IT solutions to the customers that Dell Technologies serves. Negotiating and drafting the relevant IT agreements taught Nigel how to, practically and quickly, solve the legal problems that arise in IT, as well as in business generally.

Over the period 2020 to 2023, Nigel has been consulting (in an in-house role) to one of the world’s largest advertising and media agencies. In this capacity, he’s become a specialist advisor when it comes to intellectual property and media law. He continues to work as a legal consultant, allowing him to diversify his skillsets across the challenges of commercial law in South Africa.

Playing and coaching soccer is what Nigel likes to do in his spare time. This year he is coaching a promising group of under 14’s, competing in the Johannesburg Academy League.
