Melissa completed her legal articles at an international law firm based in Sandton, and was later admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2019. During her articles she was introduced to projects that required advice on corporate and commercial, due diligence investigations, compliance programs and IT. Drone data protection, AI, robotics, blockchain and video game law caught her attention.

While completing her articles she was appointed an exco member of the Commercial Unmanned Aviation Association of South Africa (CUAASA), advising the NGO on litigation, due diligence investigations, drone regulations, IT related issues, privacy and data protection laws. She was the youngest exco member appointed.

Melissa has also advised various aviation and drone technology companies in South Africa and internationally regarding the registrations of licenses and drone regulations in South Africa.

She has worked for various national and international game development studios and has a higher certificate in game design and development, as well as Agile project management from UCT. Melissa started her own game development studio in South Africa specialising in multiplayer, mobile environmental conservation and education games.
